Lort Smith, an iconic Melbourne institution, has received a grant from the Victorian Government of $150,000 towards the building of its new community veterinary clinic in Campbellfield, in Melbourne’s north.
Lort Smith Animal Community Care – Campbellfield
This is an exciting time for our organisation.
After 85 years in our North Melbourne home, Lort Smith is reaching its limits of the number of animals and people for whom we can provide world-class care, so we need to grow. We are both staying and growing, which means we plan to stay and refurbish our current site at Villiers Street, North Melbourne and grow to a new second site in Campbellfield, in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne.
This page is designed to be a source of all key information about what is changing at Lort Smith and when. As all details of the changes are not yet available, we will be regularly updating this page with the latest in timing and frequently asked questions. Please revisit this page to stay up-to-date.
Should you have any questions or comments, please submit your questions or comments and we will respond to you as soon as we can.
Some of the exciting changes coming soon at Lort Smith are:
- Improved adoption facilities – our Adoption Centre will move from North Melbourne to Campbellfield. It will provide significantly improved amenities for animals while they are waiting to be rehomed.
- Vet services available at Campbellfield – our second site is a custom built centre. Lort Smith Animal Community Care – Campbellfield will soon be offering appointments for your pet’s routine care such as; vaccinations, health checks, behaviour advice, and day surgery (desexing, dental, minor).*
*Specialised services such as accident and emergency, critical care, and overnight care will not be available at Campbellfield, but will continue to be provided at our North Melbourne Animal Hospital.
