Leaving a Bequest

Donations and bequests are the life blood of most charities and reflect public appraisal of a charity's contribution to society.
The gift of a bequest is one positive way in which you can contribute to the continuation of the work of the Lort Smith Animal Hospital . The provision of financially discounted veterinary services to the animals of less affluent owners and the private maintenance of shelters for stray dogs and cats unfortunately results in an ever increasing trading loss. However, in a unique way, the lives of less fortunate individuals are enriched by the resulting improvement in their quality of life. Financial support from concerned individuals is necessary if the Hospital is to fulfill its chosen place in Melbourne .

  A bequest can be in the form of a gift of cash, a percentage of your estate, property or shares or the residue of your estate.

If you would like to leave an everlasting gift to the Lort Smith Animal Hospital in your will you may wish to use the following words:

LEGACY OF CASH
"I GIVE AND BEQUEATH free of all duties death estate succession or otherwise payable in consequence of my death the sum of $.....

to Lort Smith Animal hospital to be applied for * the general purposes thereof AND I DECLARE that the receipt of the Secretary/Treasurer or other proper officer of the said Association shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee for the payment of the said legacy and that my Trustee shall not be bound to see to the application thereof."

BEQUEST OF PERSONAL PROPERTY
"I GIVE AND BEQUEATH free of all duties death estate succession or otherwise payable in consequence of my death all my *...... to Lort Smith Animal hospital to be applied for the general purposes thereof AND I DECLARE that the receipt of the Secretary/Treasurer or other proper officer of the said Association shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee for the payment of the said legacy and that my Trustee shall not be bound to see the application thereof."

DEVISE OF REAL ESTATE
"I GIVE AND DEVISE free of all duties death estate succession or otherwise payable in consequence of my death my real estate situated at *......
