The Lort Smith Animal Hospital provides a unique service to the community.  Each year our shelter re-homes over 4,000 animals and our hospital treats between 80,000 and 100,000 animals of families that cannot afford such care. 

We receive no government funding and rely on the support and kindness of the wider community to continue providing these vital services to those who need them most.

Petplan Pet Insurance

The people at Petplan are passionate about animal welfare, not only have they formulated a choice of comprehensive and low cost insurance policies for pets, but they are also helping us to continue our work caring for lost, abandoned, mistreated, sick and injured animals by offering to donate 10% of every new pet policy taken up by our supporters, back to the hospital. Fostering Animals

The Lort Smith Animal Hospital takes care of surrendered and stray animals that members of the public bring in to the Hospital.  These animals are vet checked and temperament assessed before being available for adoption.

This year, for the very first time, we are introducing a Foster Care Program for Volunteers.
