There are currently around half a million unowned (stray and feral) cats in Victoria. Tens of thousands are impounded and most have to be euthanised because of poor health or because not enough homes can be found for them. Tragically a good percentage are healthy, sociable kittens, but there are simply not enough people to adopt them.
Lort Smith Animal Hospital is one of eleven animal welfare organisations forming the Who’s for Cats coalition, campaigning to address the problems associated with stray and feral cats.
For more information and to find out what you can do and how you can help, visit www.whosforcats.com.au
During the month of May as part of the “Who’s for Cats?” campaign we will be offering to desex, vaccinate and microchip for just $60 the first 100 unowned cats brought in by people wishing to take full ownership of them as family pets.
The lucky 100 will also be eligible to receive a free showbag, containing a cat collar and tag, a photo frame fridge magnet, a cat toy, and various cat publications.
