About Us

The Lort Smith Animal Hospital provides high quality veterinary care at a reduced cost for the pets of people in need as well as injured, stray and abandoned pets that have no-one to care for them.

We care for stray and unwanted animals in our dedicated cattery and kennels and reunite or re-home thousands of cats and dogs each year.

Our most recent addition to the hospital, the wildlife and exotic pet unit, provides care and expertise and promotes interest and further education in the captive care of these special creatures.

We believe that the strength of the human/animal bond inevitably means that care for the animal must include concern for the person and we work closely with other community organisations to deliver our emergency boarding services for pets of the elderly and infirm, victims of domestic violence and the homeless. Our 300+ volunteer PALS visitors (Pets Are Loving Support) and their dogs visit hospitals, nursing homes and day care centres to provide interaction, warmth and companionship to residents and patients.
